they quote a court case from 2017 at Dundee Sheriff court. The one where the lady ignored 200-ish fines and got fined for £24,500.

They are in an apples v oranges mode it would seem. How many tickets here?

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

You write to the one represents the area you vote in.

Usual last desperate throw of the dice in Scotland by deadbeat debt chasers. Single tickets are not pursued to court in Scotland as, for claims under £250, no costs can be recovered at all under Simple Procedure. Given the hoops they have to jump through in the first place to raise a claim, its just not worth it.

Ignore everything unless you are served with a Simple Procedure claim, but that is highly unlikely. Can't remember who comes next in the letter chain. Maybe QDR solicitors, Striling Park or Pollock, Fairbairn and Schivonne threatening fire and brimstone in 7 days if not paid. Ignore all.

New regulations are for a statutory Code of Practice to be created, together with an independent appeals service. Neither are in place yet and not expected until some time next year.

Currently, in Scotland, MSP Murdo Fraser is trying to seek the implementation of keeper liability in Scotland but without the provisions of Sch4 to challenge it. This leaves keeper liability a virtual statutory matter in Scotland and hobbling Scottish motorists if they wish to appeal to the new appeal service as, unlike England where keeper liability is an acquired right that can be challenged under the enabling act Sch4 POFA, there will be no similar enabling act that can be used.
There's a petition doing the rounds opposing its introduction. I suggest you seek it out and sign it.

Your situation is the same as everyone elses in Scotland
  • Thank god i got rid of my car.

Yeah i am not paying anything. If the worst they can claim is £250 even after having to prove that i was driving without camera footage (no CCTV in my car park).... i think im fine.
