Electricity Standing Charges

This is interesting. I have 7.35p daily charge (£26.83 pa) and about 15.5p per unit, of which I import just under 1600 per year (£248).
That works out at about 17.17p per unit effective rate based on my import.
Even with my old daily charge of about 15p, my effective unit rate is "only" 19p...0 -
The tariff I've just got is still showing as available (at least in my area) on the MSE comparison site. It's E.ON Fix Online Exclusive v7Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.
Install 2: Sept 19, 600W SSE
Solax 6.3kWh battery0 -
The standing charge for E.On Fix Online Exclusive v7 is a massive 31.5p per day, one of the highest I have come across. At least that is what the MSE comparison site tells me. But this site knows where I live; perhaps the standing charge is different in other parts of the country.Reed0

It's with E.On - Fix Online v24 but this is no longer available. They are now on v30 which has 15.3p standing charge.0

This is what I am quoted:Supplier E.ON (E.ON Energy Solutions Limited)
Tariff name Fix Online v30
Tariff type Fixed price
Payment method Fixed Monthly Direct Debit
Unit rate Normal 16.034p per kWh
Standing charge 16.937p per day
Tariff ends on 12 months fixed term
Price guaranteed until 12 months fixed term
Exit fees (If you cancel the tariff before the end date) £30
Clearly not the same here in Northumberland as in WiltshireReed0 -
That's very interesting. Just pretended to be a new customer here in Wilts and it shows unit rate 16.086p and standing charge 15.288p. Obviously costs more to maintain the grid and deliver leccy the nearer you get to the magnetic north pole:eek:0

Yes, I thought it was interesting too. But it means that discussing charges gets very difficult because two people on the same tariff but in different parts of the country can be paying different amounts for their standing charge as well as their unit rate.Reed0

So much for opening up energy markets! Perhaps Malc from EOn could explain the policy behind this?0

Strange isn't it. With Green I pay 12.054p with a 15p standing charge here in Bath, but less than 10 miles away as the crow flies in Corsham it's 11.795p.Solar install June 2022, Bath
