I really hate the buyers who buy my item and then fire an ultimatum at me, I need it by such and such day as it's a birthday gift. Maybe they should read the dispatch times before they buy my item.

I agree, if they have such a hard deadline then they really ought to have been shopping a few days earlier at least. Certainly no need to lay a rude guilt trip on the seller, but as you say, some people are just rude idiots.

I find that those that pay a little late are often the ones who want it quickest. I often have someone not pay until day 2 or 3 and then immediately insist that I send it that day, and upgrade to 1st as it is absolutely essential that they get it next day. I tend to ignore them or ask whether they would prefer to cancel.

Maybe there has been a full moon recently as I have just received my first ever non-positive feedback in 19 years this week. Neutral... so not too bad... but still!

I was selling a spare part from a bathroom mirror with a 3 day dispatch time and second class postage.

It sold with a best offer (at a good 30% off my BIN price) on the Wednesday. Despite my 3 day dispatch time I was passing the post office the next day (Thursday) so boxed it up and dropped it off thinking they would be happy to get it quickly.

The next week I receive neutral feedback. "Sale was conditional on arrival Friday, posted 2nd class and arrived Saturday.".

Looking back through my messages, 2 pages down in small text under their offer price was a note "Item needed by Friday latest, will need to be sent first class. Item arriving after this date will be returned for a full refund."

No prior contact by the buyer to check if that would be OK, no contact after the event to request his refund (which he stipulated in his offer and so I would have happily agreed to).

I wrote him an extremely polite response holding my hands up to my mistake and asking if the neutral feedback was really warranted as I had been given no opportunity to make things right, I would not have been able to accept his offer if I had noticed the conditional requirements ad my 3 day dispatch time could mean that it would not arrive in time anyway, and that I would happily refund the full cost of the item plus pay the return postage.

It has been 5 days so far and he has not even had the decency to respond (and this is a 2005 registered eBayer with 1500+ feedback). :(
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

I send my items paid through Ebay so you have scanned tracking and 'should' be able to see when they are delivered. In reality only about 4 or 5 in every 10 actually show 'delivered'.

As Ive already paid for delivery and printed the label Im going to send it and just keep my fingers crossed.

    So rude though.

Do you have to take them to the post office to get the proof of postage for the tracking?

To be fair to them they had included it in their offer, hardly their fault you hadn't read it or eBay put it in small text.

Proof of,posting and tracking are two different things. It is possible to have proof of delivery without taking an item to the post office assuming it gets scanned at some point during the journey. However for proof of postage it needs to have some sort of receipt from the PO or RM.

Offers though cannot be made with conditions , buyers can say what they want but it is not binding. However having said that business sellers must take change of mind returns, so if buyer had gone off in a strop about sending this item back then buyer would have needed to pay for a tracked return.

I thought you got the money back on an unused label?

I have had one buyer wanting an item by a certain day recently.

However, they contracted me before buying (item was BIN) and politely enquired about if it could get there by a certain day.

I replied that i would send it by a certain delivery asap but could not guarantee once it had left me that it would reach them by the asked date.

Item did get there in pkenty of time. I think when people ask nicely before bidding, i am more inclined to go that little extra mile.

For those wanting a faster delivery than advertised on the listing, my answer is 'yes certainly, but as the postage is not as per listed advert, i will have to charge you for it', please let ne know if you wish to proceed?' I then leave for a day and if they don't respond I send out as I would normally.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.
