How rude are some people!

Ive just sold an item on Ebay for the fabulous price of £4.99.

The buyer paid straight away. I immediately messaged the buyer saying 'Thank you for buying the item'. I also thanked them for the prompt payment and told them that I was packing the item now and would take it to the Post office first thing tomorrow.

Pretty good service so I thought.

As my message was sent I noticed I had a message in my box and clicked on it straight away.

It was from the buyer I had just messaged. I said 'Don't be long sending it cos I go on holiday on Wednesday and if its not here on time I wont be home to get it so I will send it back when I get back from my holiday as I wont still want it'.

No, please, no thank you, just rude and no response to the message I sent to them. Had there been a polite request letting me know they were hoping to get it by Wednesday I would have gone straight to the PO this afternoon.

Whats the bet they take it on holiday then return it saying it didn't arrive in time.

I would be inclined to refund and not send, not worth the almost certain hassle you are going to get

I send my items paid through Ebay so you have scanned tracking and 'should' be able to see when they are delivered. In reality only about 4 or 5 in every 10 actually show 'delivered'.

As Ive already paid for delivery and printed the label Im going to send it and just keep my fingers crossed.

    So rude though.

Why would you want to do that?

To prove what date it was received, so they couldn't say it wasn't there in time for their holiday if they were intending to use it and then ask for a refund.

Why pay for a signature, unless the item needs additional insurance, the POD on standard parcels will show what time the parcel was delivered (for free). Signature isn't required for anything under £750.

i would be inclined to cancel too, with the reason buyer requested. just message them saying - cancelled as delivery cannot be guaranteed
You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *
  • I really hate the buyers who buy my item and then fire an ultimatum at me, I need it by such and such day as it's a birthday gift. Maybe they should read the dispatch times before they buy my item.
  • I agree, if they have such a hard deadline then they really ought to have been shopping a few days earlier at least. Certainly no need to lay a rude guilt trip on the seller, but as you say, some people are just rude idiots.
(Although I could be wrong, I often am.)

I find that those that pay a little late are often the ones who want it quickest. I often have someone not pay until day 2 or 3 and then immediately insist that I send it that day, and upgrade to 1st as it is absolutely essential that they get it next day. I tend to ignore them or ask whether they would prefer to cancel.
