wow thats so lovely I think you're an awesome mom for letting your kids decide and having the christmas be about them :D

I wouldnt even think about it twice, if you're bothered try and think why. Is it because you wanted a set meal together or wanted to do a bit of cooking? You could always do something on boxing day.

Seriously, get them burgers in :D:D

I'm not bothered....well....only because I do like the traditional xmas dinner (apart from disgusting, foul, vile, stinking, brussel sprouts!!!), but it's not the same cooking it to be appreciated by one (i.e. just me)!

I really *love* salmon so I'm going to find a nice recipe and cook myself something spesh! I normally just have it plain steamed, so I'll try and find something adventurous to do with it.

My kids don't normally have much choice in what they eat during a normal week. Some days it'll be food they love, other days it'll be something they hate (i.e. tonight Rogan Josh Curry with brown rice which DS HATES)! So it is nice for them to have a completely free choice on xmas day. I'm going to get them to create a menu each. It's our first Christmas home since I separated from my ex (their dad) so I want to make it special & enjoyable for the three of us.

Can't even imagine how hard the past few years must have been for you but I hope you have the best christmas ever with your funny kids - well, DS :D

I actually googled to see if there was an "Anti Brussel Sprouts" site...but came across that game first and got distracted by it. Such fun squatting brussel sprouts. It's about all they're good for really!

I used to let DS eat what he wanted on the day as no point in making him eat something he dident want, having a big strop & causing an atmosphere!

OH and I are going to my parents for christmas - so it will be a traditional meal all the way :D

My OH parents are going to MIL daughters and they are having an indian there.

On boxing day we are at OH parents and having a roast :( we were going to have a boxing day indian but now they are having it at christmas means we wont have it boxing day :(

  • We always have the full turkey dinner, my mams usually does a piece of pork or beef too if someone wants different, or it gets eaten cold the day after. We all love our roast dinner in our family, i think i'd pick my mams xmas dinner as my last meal lol :rotfl:

I let DD (6) eat what she wants tbh. Its one day and its such a magical day for kids, as someone said before, no point spoiling it by making them eat something just because its 'traditional'. She'll probably have chipolatas (sp?), mash, carrots, broccoli and gravy (she'd eat broccoli every meal, every day if she was let!) For brekkie she has chocolate and for tea she'll pick at the buffet but will be too excited/exhausted to eat much really.

I think its great all these alternative meals! Esp the indian food, i love a curry me! :p
