Yes Laser (and others) make every conceivable special tools you'd ever need. Approaching an apparently complex procedure like this with a logical mind and all of the technical information available means it's not the voodoo subject that it might seem. Effectively you're just paying someone (a lot!) for their time.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience? Why? So you can argue with them?0

Swapping the timing belt itself may well be relatively easy with the right tools and instructions. But most people (including me) would be put off immediately by "Step (1) remove front bumper and radiator" or whatever it is. Replacing a timing belt is a long, complicated job that is way beyond the ability, patience and desire of most people, even if they had the tools and facilities.Yes Laser (and others) make every conceivable special tools you'd ever need. Indeed, I would too. Fortunately it's easier than that on mine. But most people (including me) would be put off immediately by "Step (1) remove front bumper and radiator" or whatever it is.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. The O/P didnt ask about doing it themselves.
They have expressed no interest subsequently about doing it themselves.
They have given us no indication they have the ability to do it themselves.
I dont really know why Fred and Fredder are still banging on about it.0 -
To be fair Fred removing front bumpers and radiators is dead easy. Just follow the simple instructions in the manual or see if there's a good YouTube video on it.0

Yes, cheers will do. Not needed to date but have been close enough to have had a preemptive look for future reference. The next belt/pump project needs an engine support beam, not cheap but it'll pay for itself. The garage £ rates make it a good investment.Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. Are you looking in the mirror as you reply to yourself?
How very quaint.0 -
An engine support beam? Can't you just balance the engine on a block of wood. That's what I do when I am removing the engine mountings.0
