I returned from the UK 2 years ago and not having a credit score is a challenge. The best way to over come this for renting is to pay up front for at least 6 months. Air BnB is the best way to go for something short term0

If you don't mind me asking ,not having UK credit history did it make it difficult to open a bank account and obtain utilities etc?0

I already had a bank account in the UK but it made it hard to get a credit card. It is best to go with a credit builder card, the credit card forum has advice. Basically you go with someone like capital one and get a low limit and a horrendous rate but that doesn't matter if you can manage your finances. Utilities were not a problem but I had to pay by direct debit. Mobile phone was an issue; I could not get more than £20 a month credit so had to go with a pay as you go phone. Totally nuts as I had a massive bank balance having transferred the proceeds of my overseas house sale and not yet having bought the UK house.0
