k750i on orange questions

i plan to update my dads orange contract and hopefully get 500mins + 30txts for £25/month with free k750i. he can then keep using his 7250i, and then use the k750i on my o2 PAYG.

but,
from what i can tell, the k750i is locked on orange (can anyone confirm?), and right now no one (other than orange) can unlock it, due to the new connector. (again, if anyone knows how to unlock it, pleease tell me)

so,
could i use orange PAYG on the *locked* phone?, and port my number across from o2?
what would happen if i still had credit on the o2 sim.. would i get a new number for this so i could use any remaining, or would it just be lost?
[i dont really want to change thou]

also,
can u change the covers on the k750i, thus getting rid of any orange branding?

and,
do most of the phone features work without the sim card? ie. mp3 player, radio, camera? - worst comes to worst i could carry 2 phones around for a while until k750i 's can be unlocked easily?

thank you please :)

Orange (and T-Mobile) normally lock their phones to the network, nothing much you can really do about this. I would wait a month or so, and then you will get non-official options to unlock the phone.

I presume if you transfer your o2 payg number across, that would be the end of your o2 connection and you would loose your credit.

Don't think the non phone features would work without a sim card. However you could just stick in an Orange payg sim in.

    thanks,
can anyone with a k750i confirm weather or not the features (games, mp3 player, camera, radio) work with no sim in?

    also,
can u change the covers on the k750i, thus getting rid of any orange branding?
