Looks like it's too late to apply for RBS offer. We must open account AND complete switch by 29th November 2019.

Although, if you just read the part below on the website:

you'd be forgiven for thinking that we only need to open account by 29th November 2019 then complete switch later.

Called RBS today to clarify and they said it is indeed just APPLY by the cut-off date but you have to select that you want to switch as part of the application. You don't even need to be accepted by the cut-off date, so long as you have applied and specified switching. Same with Nat West.

Thanks datz I hadn't known about the Ulster Bank offer too. It's never been mentioned on MSE as I can see.
Done RBS/NatWest so can't go there.

Presumably I can do the application and start the switch process by 29th Nov and if going on the above post re the phone call get the £150?

    EDIT......
I can't take advantage of this offer, the T&C's state if I've had the offer from RBS/NW pre July 2019 ( I have) then I won't get this incentive for switching.
  • Would this still be the best joint account for household bills or does the Santander beat it even with the £150 factored in? I know that they've slashed the rewards.

We were also turned down for the identical Natwest account. I'm unsure why, but I think I may have put the date of when I opened one of my accounts in wrong (I took an educated guess based on the date on my debit card) and my partner was right up to the wire uploading her additional info. Nothing wrong with our credit files so maybe they got spooked by the carelessness.

For those that have not yet taken advantage of any RBS group offer, it is certainly worth keeping in mind that you can take advantage of all 3 offers simultaneously (RBS/Natwest/Ulster Bank).

Just have a careful read of the terms of conditions of each and, in particular, note the eligibility cutoff dates for each. Often the 3 will run their promotion/offer windows at approximately the same times, with enough overlap that you can apply for all 3 on the same cycle whilst fully meeting the eligibility requirements. Three donor accounts would be required to do it this way, since you are not switching in sequence.

While they might change their systems over time and the above might not always remain the case... doing the above did work for me, when I did it.
Did you really get paid by all 3 banks? I also thought the terms and conditions did imply that, just didn't think it would actually work...

When I took advantage of these switch offers (~1.5 years ago or so), only RBS and Natwest were offering them (at that point in time). I switched donor accounts into both at same time (i.e. my timing ensuring that I met the eligibility conditions of both offers), and fullfilled the other conditions.

And yes, I got paid by both offers. With Ulster Bank also now offering a switching incentive (which it wasn't at the time), it stands to reason that all 3 offers can be taken advantage of simultaneously.

Unless things change, of course. It has been a while, so someone might want to test it again. But most people around here have already used one of the RBS-group offers, so are no longer eligible for either of the other offers.

Has anyone got their £150 yet?

Doubtful, from the conditions you must have read? - "Providing you have met these conditions, the £150 will be transferred into your eligible current account by 7th February 2020."

From experience and their previous offer, my incentive was credited the day before the published date. So expect it on or around the 6th Feb. '20.:p

I had read that, just wondering if anyone had it already!
    Okay, so February it is!
  • They then get ridiculed for being late to the party!
From what i've seen over the years, they just get ridiculed for anything and everything in general
