A lot has happened in a very short time - you've done remarkably well!!!!
Fingers very firmly crossed here for A's future. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
My son was 24 months with limited speech and referred to a Speech Therapist. Through her observations and experience he was eventually referred to a Children's Centre and diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome when he was 4 and a half.
By getting this early diagnosis he has had support from day one. He is almost 14 now and attends a mainstream school with an Autistic Spectrum unit attached to it.
My son is the most loving, laid back, kind, thoughtful, affectionate child and I wouldn't swap him for the world.
Good luck.0 -
just read the first and last page--forgive me but no time the now to go through it all.
I spoke about my son in another thread and described him as having learning difficulties for the simplicity of people not familiar with ASD but he is on the spectrum.
This may have been in the pages that i missed but do you use an ASD support site-- I use one and it has been a lifesaver emotionally for me.
They have loads of got the T shirt experience and are more than happy to share experiences highs and lows of ASD.
Sounds like you are doing a marvellous job with him.0 -
He kissed me! He kissed me!! :j
Been longing for this moment for so long. Made me quite emotional and my heart just melted.
I hope kisses don't run out because it's all I've been asking him to do ever since LOL. He's even kissed me without having to ask a couple times too :A
Just had to share my happines with you all.

...I want to know if having a diagnosis helps you in your day to day life. I have a 7 1/2 year old DS who is now 6 weeks away from a diagnosis so we have been told :j at last!!! The characteristics he shows are many of ADHD but also of ASD - putting things in lines, tying things up, he has his own vocabulary, runs away, gets very afraid of little things, upset by tiny changes. Has hardly any fear at all. THere is so much else it would take ages to list it all!
We already get DLA middle rate due to health and behaviour issues anyway, but are any other things made easier by having a diagnosis, in other words being 'official' Will he get more help at school? Will social services help him?
Are there any services which would become available to him after a diagnosis?
THanks in advance.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
