I got some good news yesterday
The panel rang me to say that my eldest daughter has been accepted to go to a local Special Needs school, HoorayAt last, I can actually plan now, thought I would get the news in the summer hols, which would have been too late really. I can buy her the new uniform and get her used to going to a different school. We're going to their Summer Fayre on Sunday afternoon, so it will be her first time there. I'm sure she'll love it, as it seems like a brilliant school (she's just turned 7).

Great news
Like my DS she probably needs to know things in advance, that will be a great help for you:)
i wish my son's school would tell us who is teaching him next year because otherwise it will take him til Oct to settle in and we all go through hell every year.
I had good news too though the Red Cross are funding DS to go to a playscheme in the summer part timeMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Carrera maybe totally not relevant to your situation as I don't know your partner, but mine struggled to accept my DS1s diagnosis because he was just like he was as a child, because he had similar issues and didn't want to see himself as different.
I do wonder about this myself. My ex was a very controlling and violent man and the temper and lashing out is what I was first concerned about in my DS. I do sometimes wonder if his Dad does have an underlying problem and that's why he is how he is but then I don't want to make excuses for his appauling behaviour towards me and my children.
I received a call yesterday from the LEA. They have agreed to change his statement and to find him a place at a special high school. Now the fun begins finding him a suitable placement. The place that would suit him perfectly isn't funded by the LEA so looks like we've got another fight on our hands. Bring it on!!
Hope everyone is okayx

I had to see Parent Partnerships cos I am worried DS is not getting the support he needs. For example we dont know who is teaching him nxt year and term ends on the 17th
Also he has been told he will not be with any of his friends (how effing cruel) unless he behaves himself, and they are not letting him go to the loo all the time DESPITE having a letter from the school nurse and he is now seeing a specialist at the hospital for his 'wee problem'.
PP referred us to Social services because DS1 often hurts DS2, he has ended up in casualty a few times but the SS knew this already and CLOSED our case. The only support it seems like they can gove is bloomin 'signposting' which essentially means giving me a printout of 'useful phone numbers of support organisations' slightly less useful than a wet fish.
They have done this before we are going round in circles.
Does anyone here get any actual REAL help and advice from SS or do they just dish out bits of paper to people unless they are crack addicts or alcoholics?Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Carrera now you have noticed things re your ex, in hindsight I think there may have been some Aspergers tendencies in my ex. Been told it is often hereditary, but there are other factors. At least life is easier without the ex!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I know I have found SS to be CARP. Like last year when they sent a woman to my house with one of their flippin 'signposting lists' bloomin cheek. AND what a waste of taxpayers money!
i have tried pleading and ranting I did get very angry with her - she is referred to as 'dolphin woman' because she appeared at the door in a tassled skirt and a t shirt with a dolphin on. Knew who she was even though i had never seen her before.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum so thought I would introduce myself. I don't have any children with ASD (they are too young) but I do have grown up brother in law with Aspergers. DH is probably on the spectrum somewhere as well. Also, now don't shoot me, I am a teacher in a special school, I don't teach in the ASD classrooms but do have a lot to do with the teachers and the children. I am appalled at the lack of support some of the posts I have read, though when BIL was little he was sent to a residential school for behaviour; not what he needed.
I haven't read all the posts but most seem to be in mainstream and some going to special. i know in my school we go to bat for our parents more and bully/badger nicely ss to get help. We also use the TEECH ( sorry letters are wrong brain not working) which we send home and work with families to develop. Speech and Language also work on social stories which are a very specialised type of story to help ASD children understand; you must where pants, teachers change, schools change, new clothes etc.
Sorry bit of an epic and i am sure you have had heard all this before
