I don't think we'd be entitled to the bus thing as it mentions that the person holding the pass would have to have high rate DLA and as our boy is under 3 he can't be awarded high rate - and can't have mobility until he's at least 5.

Funny you say that, I had a very lenghty and informative conversation with the people who are not normally friendly at the councils bus pass section (Sheffield) and they checked and they confirm if he has a learning disability (ASD is a major learning disability) he automatically becomes elegible, but also because he gets Higher Care Rate of DLA, if I send that letter to them, they will issue a "Carers" pass which entitles a carer to travel free with him,and obviously he already gets free "Under 5" travel but when he turns 5, his mobility pass will still cover him with carer!

All I was told to do was register him with someone at "Ryegate Childrens Centre" (Where he goes for tests etc) and they will process the pass...

I am still running round in circles to find out about other types of support, and where to get it from, but I will ask the HV when she (if she...) makes an appearance, as she said "I have referred him on to Ryegate so technically I have to wash my hands of him" followed by "Let me know how things go"...

I do understand what you mean about the health visitors, I think mine ran a mile as soon as the "dreaded" ASD came up & I've seen sight nor sound since.

I'm awaiting the Complex Communication team to give DS a full assesment - been told waiting lists are v.long but we have got SALT again at beginning of Feb, I'm going to ask advice about pecs for DS

I'll check out our local council about the bus thing after reading about Sheffield - perhaps we do have something

Re. Buggies - we have a specialist social worker who looks after any questions etc and she arranges special play etc she said that she has a number of mac majors that she has for loaning to families she mentioned that we might want to borrow one to try out before we buy - perhaps you could do something similar?

Hi guys, sorry I haven't been posting much, having a bit of a carp time.

Camhs were supposed to ring me yesterday but they didn't ring. I'm going to ring them in a bit. Feel like they are purposely stressing me out as much as humanly possible to see if I will crack. :o

    I haven't.....yet.....

Take care Snaggles, good luck with the call and let us know how it goes. It's just another call to them, it's huge to us and our children.

Thanks Rovers - I rang them and the person dealing with Ryan isn't in at all today. :( I've left a message for her, so I really hope she will ring me tomorrow, otherwise I will have to start pestering them!

Can I ask if any of you have put your children on a special diet eliminating colours, additives etc?
My son is Dyspraxic with mild ADD and I suspect some Autistic traints too.
I am trying to put him on a cleaned up diet, you know everything from scratch and as fresh as possible. I have cleared out all the choccys etc from the cupboards.
It really does seem to help him!
But I wanted to make him some biscuits or flapjacks or something but don't know whether these would fall into this new cleaned up diet.
I wondered if any of you did the same with your children what you did for treats other than fruit and nuts etc.

skyrocket, i'm thinking of this as i think certain foods (especially gluten which he craves) have a bad effect on my son. what are you giving him, i cook everything from scratch but he does have treats including biscuits.... he has little interest in dairy so i don't think that's an issue. how long before you noticed an improvement?
one thing both my boys love is dried apricots. also homemade popcorn goes down well.
