Window cleaner taking me to small claims court

He’s bluffing. It doesn’t sound like he has sufficient evidence to suggest a contract was formed. Ignore his texts and if he follows them up with something formal, come back and get advice. I doubt he will though.0

The only possible additional costs are court fees (filing and hearing - if it gets that far). For £63 it's highly unlikely that he would do this.0

You could write to him and say you require a formal Letter Before Claim that conforms to the Civil Procedure Rules and if you don't get one you will object strongly to costs.
It might throw him a bit.0 -

Is he the sort to lob some bricks through your windows if he doesn't get the money?0

He won't be able to clean them then.0 -
He should have done a written agreement, like a contract. Sounds very iffy and unprofessional. I'd pay the two visits "without prejudiced" and leave it at that.0

We don't have a written contract with our window cleaner ... not sure how many people actually would (except for commercial contracts).0

Its precisely why you should, to avoid these misunderstandings. Even just write on the back of his card (monthly cleans until further notice")and signed would be enough.0
