You should work for Haliax..:).you are repeating the same nonsense as them totally ignoring my question WHY this procedure is required.
And if they let someone else take them over how would you feel?
Banks have procedures for reasons. Some of them they have to put in place due to regulations that the FCA put in place.
As a customer you do not need to know WHY, Only if you want to access your accounts, you will have to follow it.
Best guess is to prove who you are.:T
Stop getting so worked up.:beer:Life in the slow lane0 -
There is sbsolutely nothing wrong with questioning why you are being asked to do certain things. Instead of just going along like sheep.0

I have banked with Santander for years and that is EXACTLY how I access my account too. Are you sure you are with Santander ?Martin (With an I)

I know that Santander dont use card readers .... .. nor do I use three characters from a password ( just a Cust ID,a passcode and a pin) but things may well have changed over the years .

Does anyone know if there is an alternative to OTP?s
I live in the countryside and do not get a mobile signal. When I am not there I am normally at work which is off-shore on a ship, and again, no mobile signal.
I have online banking which is great until I need to change something which could be as simple as a date a payment is made.
I cannot do this, certainly not from sea and at home, my wife has to take my phone, drive down the road to get a signal, then when the OTP arrives, she calls me on the house phone to give me the number.... fantastic!
Are these OTP's mandatory, is there any way I can do this without them.
I would appreciate a serious answer please, not sarcastic .
ThanksMartin (With an I)

It depends on your bank. There's a comprehensive thread here going through the options with each bank:
