  • They don't use cheap components
    Oh, yes they do.
  • "The Sale of Goods Act offers protection against faulty goods even when the manufacturer's guarantee has run out. The act says goods must last a reasonable time - and that can be anything up to six years from the date of purchase."

Search Google for something like "sale of goods act last a reasonable time" and the above will come up.

And seeing as the Sale of Goods act has been replaced, why would anyone want to Google it?

I'd certainly expect everything in an Apple laptop to last at least 3-4 years with normal use. They don't use cheap components. If it was Dell on the other hand I'd say 15 months is quite good!

Dell use a damn lot better componants than apple. In certain ranges.

Yes low end DELL is rubbish.

But even mid end DELL (or HP) is sooo much better than apple in the last 10 years.

Apple are riding on the name and selling increasingly poor stuff and will continue until they die unless they get someone good in charge. Which seems unlikely since the could not care less about the "pc" division.

Pedant-alert - it hasn't been replaced, only superseded for Consumer transactions. ;) Elements of SoGA still apply for B2B transactions. :)
