Buying roller blinds to prevent warmth from escaping room!!

Hi I am considering buying blinds for all our rooms to save on heating and keeping warmth in the house.

Is this a money saving idea eg the cost of the blinds verses the energy to heat the rooms.

Would thicker curtains do a good job too I am approximating £20 per pair of curtains and £100 for 3 blinds I have 5 windows upstairs 2 windows down stairs and conseratory sliding doors on the back

What do you think
£2400 mb profit so far since 01/11/08

!!!!!!!!!I am a scrooge and proud of it!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've gone for curtains, kitten, two pairs to a window, one of which is on poles above and overlap the window frame quite a bit.
Cheap enough from charity shops about £2 a pair. Even cheaper thru Freecycle or boot sales.
Did read on here somewhere that the ultimate is outside window shutters made from polystyrene or Celotex type insulation. This prevents condensation on the inner window pane. Can't find a ready made outside window shutter on the internet so curtains it is.

In my kitchen where our dining table is near the window and we sit for long periods of time, I have blinds inset into the window recess (ikea cheapos) then I have some curtains (freebies from a friend) as well. We have old fashioned sash windows which are hard to insulate well so it makes it cosy having blinds and curtains when its windy.

If ever you go down the window insulation route, W.A. Surcliff "Thermal Shutters and Shades" would be useful.
American guy and measurements are feet and inches and he talks of btu rather than kwh.
