Noisy 'DIY'

A very interesting read and surprised to learn there are so many understanding ppl out there willing to tolerate DIY noise outside 8am-6pm. I'd be annoyed if they starts 6am and still working after 7pm especially on a Sunday/bank holiday, but I'd let it slide as it's a one off project, and return the same curtsey one day knowing the neighbours are OK of having noise at those hours.
I am not so sure how I'd tolerate 6am start here in the UK - this was in a country where 1) every day was > 30 degrees for 2 months and 2) just about every house has a pile of logs for heating in winter that need to be cut down to size.
Here the heatwave weather almost never lasts more than a week or two so I think 8am is more reasonable especially at weekends.0 -
I agree with the comments above.. what i usually do everytime its noisy outside is, I put on my earphones, order pizza and watch movies.. so far i gained 5 pounds.. ahhahaha0

This guidance is generally for larger commercial construction sites, not your home DIYer.Coveredinbees!!!! wrote: »I had a look on my local council web site as they had now got my back up and the 'guidance' says 8am to 6pm week days, 8am to 1pm on Saturday and no work on Sundays or bank holidays.0 -
I made that point in Post 6, but it still didn't stop my brother-in-law's council imposing restrictions on his build, though that was a more ambitious project than the usual DIY.This guidance is generally for larger commercial construction sites, not your home DIYer.
I think they were wrong, as they were about other matters, but one doesn't rock the boat too much when changes and proposals need approval and signing-off in a conservation area.
It simply prolonged the agony for the grumpy neighbour, who wasn't the brightest button in the box.0 -
The OP said they were starting at 6pm in the eves, and 10am on the last weekend. I think that's perfectly reasonable. I think I too would have a problem with 6am!I am not so sure how I'd tolerate 6am start here in the UK - this was in a country where 1) every day was > 30 degrees for 2 months and 2) just about every house has a pile of logs for heating in winter that need to be cut down to size.

I know Jo, I was referring to my own post #19 on the way things are done in Southern Europe where it's baking hot by about 10am.
In any case - where is the OP with his climbdown?0
