    There's absolutely nothing unusual or impossible about a 2001 V40. Their systems are clearly a bit incompetent if they don't have such a mainstream model listed.
    They won't cover anything over 10 years. The newest V40 is 15-years-old, so there would be no point in listing it.

    Thanks for replies, you'd think they'd say something about the 10 year restriction on the home or buy now page! Will have to go elsewhere.

    There's also a current V40 model which is a 5 door hatchback. Volvo used the same name just to confuse people..
