Not sure what you think CAB can do for you. Tesco have fulfilled their obligations under the CRA. You may be able to squeeze another £20 out them but I would say £110 for what was a relatively cheap 3 year old TV is fair.
  • I asked if they could offer any more but they decline. I've just accepted their offer, now to think on how to proceed (use the money to repair my set or buy a new one).

Whats your three year old tv worth after spending money on it .
New TV i would look at Richer Sounds who give a long warranty .
  • OP take it to a local repair guy and ask him to take a look.

My brother in law has retired from the navy as an engineering officer and is never happy unless he is tinkering with stuff. He picks up TVs when at the tip and repairs them for next to nothing just to keep busy.
  • I think I'll get a new one, I saw the Richer Sounds 6 year warranty too.

Also, I might attempt a repair myself. I'm not incapable in these areas (unless there's soldering, I'm terrible at that) and it's almost certain that the problem with my TV is the backlight LEDs, which are available and I've watched a number of youtube tutorials on changing them, seems straight forwad (if a little fiddly).

I'll have a 'spare' then, I'll probably give it to one of my daughters
