Which printer

do you recommend. I mostly print letters etc, copy documents and occasionally print pictures.

I have a canon TS 5050 3 in 1. I have had problems with it ever since I bought the wretched thing, had to get someone in to set it up, it took him over an hour and he is a computer techie. It prints the last page first which annoys me. I have tried several times to change the way it prints, zilch, and of course I have just bought 2 new packs of ink. Right now it keeps telling me that the printer is not connected, have turned it off and turned it on again, re set what I wanted to print and still no joy............

I would prefer a 3 in 1 where you can load 50 sheets of paper, I find it a pain with this one............

Any reccy's please with reasonable ink costs.

looks at this, but untick the reverse order box
    https://www.solveyourtech.com/print-reverse-order-word-2010/

also go to printer property and try to find order like 16 to 1 and 1 to 16 change it in 1 to 16 and close it it will print in right direction.

It is a very small chance that you printer will have sufficient memory to hold multiple pages of a document and then print it in reverse. This reverse printing is usually done by your PC.

Canon products are normally very good, but I am not familiar with this one, more with laser.

Would suggest you should get a different techie next time

To be honest unless you need to regularly print colour documents I would just buy a black and white laser printer, they are cheap, very reliable, very fast, have huge ink/toner capacities and usually at least a 500 sheet paper tray.

Inkjet printers cost a lot more to run because of the ink cartridges and have a tendancy for print heads to get clogged if not used very regularly. Whereas you can turn on a laser printer after 6 months and have it shooting out pages no problem.

I do a lot of photography and even I just send them to professional printing service nowadays, it's much more economical and far less hassle.

I have a TS5050 printer and tbh it was probably one of the easiest printers to install, especially if you're running Win 10. I would question just how "computer techie" this friend of yours is.

As mentioned it's fairly straightforward to change the order in which a document prints but why would you not want the last page printed first. As far as being connected is concerned are you sure it can see your wifi network OK?

Canon printers are generally pretty good when it comes to buying and using cheaper, compatible inks.

HP Office Jet here, with Instant Ink.

It has copying with an automatic document feeder (which can also be used for scanning), an office sized paper tray (at least 50 sheets), and it prints pretty fast (much faster than my previous home printer).

If it has a downside, the output "tray" isn't very elegant - just a telescopic platform with an extendable paper rest.

I have a Canon 6150 and am very happy with it. Yes there was an installation problem, but only with my wife's laptop and that was my fault (naturally!)
I have installed this desktop, a Lenovo tablet, 2 Sony phones and the laptop, all by "Wireless Direct" - download and check the printer manual, or look at the guide which came with the printer. Only with the wife's laptop did I forget to go back to "Devices and printers" and click "Install" to the printer icon. Suggest you do that?

I second that's comment: " Would suggest you should get a different techie next time. "
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

That used to be the case. If you buy the right inkjet it is no longer true.

Under....“Canon printer properties”,...”page set-up”....”copies”....you’ll see a tick-box that allows you to toggle which page is printed first. The default setting is ‘last page printed first’, which, for a printer that delivers pages ‘printed side up’ is generally what you need. Un-ticking the box allows you to print the first page 1st,...if you really need it that way.

Canon Pixma printers (if reports are to be believed) can be adversely affected by some 3rd party anti-virus programs; i.e. causes intermittent problems, slow printing, print failure, wi-fi connection issues et al.

I have a Canon Pixma printer (running via wi-fi) and apart from the fairly annoying and laborious initiation routine (head cleaning, purging etc) that it goes through at switch-on it’s been absolutely faultless.

Cheap to buy and run (compatible inks cost peanuts), superb quality prints and very stable Wi-Fi printing.

Setting up 'stable' Wi-Fi devices can sometimes be a strange and frustrating process.

We sold quite a few TS5050 printers and I installed a few of those, as you say pretty easy. I tend to take it with a pinch of salt when people mention their computer tech as I’ve solved some really simple issues that the so called computer tech couldn’t I guess it’s often a case of someone with zero IT skills getting someone with marginally more IT skills to solve the problem
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

I'd be glad to be proved wrong, but I've never seen any empirical evidence where inkjets cost less to run than a mono laser.
