You would be more than welcome ;)
  • Resurrecting this thread as ideas are percolating and slowly beginning to take shape; great suggestions that I'm taking on board, thank you everyone. The learning curve is steep and ongoing...

    My impressions so far:

Ultimate Goal is to have a Passive House or Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB): the idea is to create an insulated airtight space or envelope and then provide a highly efficient heating/cooling system and heat recovery ventilation.

The aim is to passively retain the temperature within the space while providing excellent air quality and humidity control.

The outcome should be a Building Energy Rating (BER) of A2 with a minimum of 20% energy coming from renewable sources (solar PV and heat pump).
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

  • So on the list so far:

Insulation in attic, walls and floors.

New roof with ventilation and counter battens.

Triple glazed windows plus a-rated doors.

    Solar PV on the roof

    Air source heat pump

    Mechanical heat recovery ventilation system

Thermal bridge insulation (Thermal Lite Blocks)

New heating system; not sure yet but will probably go for underfloor heating
