I fancy the red one and there doesn't seem to be much difference between sim only and buying outright and getting a two year contract....mis September after the latest release? Thoughts....

Have a look at contracts from the independent retailers, I bought on contract from mobiles.co.uk and it works out at around £120 less than if I had bought it sim free.
I bought the 128GB version for £110 upfront + £24 a month for unlimited calls/text and 5GB data. A 5GB sim only plan would be around £10 a month so it’s actually around £360 saving over 2 years.====0 -

This is exactly my plan - but want to get the right timing - will it be even more cheaper when new iPhone launches next month0 -

It’s possible it will but impossible to say with any certainty, the cheapest it’s been (from what I remember) was actually last year Black Friday.
It can be worth checking the mobiles section at HUKD on a regular basis to see if any cheap deals or misprices happen.====0
