I ordered a bath step for my elderly father from Amazon. Unfortunately, the product which was advertised as being anti-slip was actually made of the slippiest material.

My father slipped and fell immediately upon stepping on it.

I'm furious with Amazon, I didn't even know they hide behind third-party sellers, it wasn't clear when I made the purchase. Their customer service is non-existent and I'm just worried that they are selling these faulty fake products to vulnerable elderly people.

I'm considering visiting the no-claim no-fee solicitor about this? I also wondered if there is a class-action lawsuit I could join.

I have always found their customer service to be exceptionally good.

Here's a link showing bath steps which are approved by the dlf
The basic ones look similar to what you're suggesting you bought.
They describe the couple I looked at as slip resistant rather than non slip.

No, it's very much not clear.

It's clear if you already know that Amazon is both a retailer and a platform for other retailers - which the OP states they didn't. Otherwise it's just a bit of text on an already 'busy' page, and located underneath the add to basket and buy now buttons (so something you're far less likely to read as by that stage you've probably already pressed the button and moved on.

There's no differently coloured header, nothing above the title of the product, often there's even Amazon Choice and Amazon Prime logos. Products sold by Amazon and products just listed on Amazon's platform are deliberately made to look the same.

Total and arrant nonsense...it's very clear what Amazon actually sell and what is Amazon marketplace.
