Continuing on from the weekend's cooking. Tonight's dinner wouldn't have looked out of place in a student's pad. Cheesy mash with baked beans. Had a load of potatoes turning and some beans in the fridge to use up so made a perfect stodgy Monday night dinner. Still got plenty of mash left over for tomorrow.
Very tired today - not sleeping very well. Waking way too early
No spend day

Feeling blurgh today - another night of unbroken sleep! So tired!! Could be due to feeling a bit peeved - doing an online course and i'm just not gelling with the team I am in. Was meant to have a meeting last night, however logged on to find the meeting was moved to an hour earlier and I had no idea

Last night was date night and because of the poop weather it was a meal and glass of wine at home. We were hoping to go to the pub for a cheeky drink but didn't happen. It was still nice though. On the subject of date nights, I managed to get OH in a bit of a mood yesterday. He loves a certain chain restaurant and is looking forward to going again now things are opening up and he wasn't impressed with my comments about having to schedule in a trip (i'm thinking budgets
). He is used to being a bit spend as you like and I am determined to live within means so he's going to have to wait.
I've spent a small amount of money on gardening stuff which I need - seedlings are over ready to be planted outside. I would like to get nice planters for them but this isn't a current option so going to re-purpose an old shopping crate in the garden into a makeshift planter / raised bed. So bought liner and some compost. Its youngest kids birthday soon so bought him a board game to go with another gift already bought. Total spend £27.89. Still have £200.29 left. eeek!
Quickly made up some bolognaise for spag bol this morning - this will be tonight tea and will portion some out for OH to take to work this weekend. Still have plenty of food in so we should be ok on our lean budget.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Its Thursday and I'm having a lazy day tbh! Sleep hasn't improved and i'm carrying the sniffles.
After school drop off we finally shrugged off a decent sized bag of clothes to the clothes bin - something i've been meaning to do for over a year and taken a faulty power socket to electrical recycling centre. We then popped to Costa for the first time over a year and had a welcomed cuppa & toastie.
On route home bought some groceries from Aldi for £18.45 and now relaxing at home. Lots of things to do but feeling a bit yukky so bringing on the laze
Still have £181.84 left in the kitty. Need to get a birthday present for a friend this weekend so setting max budget of £10 for this and we are going out on the train so budgeting £20 for travel spends.2025 financial goals & challenges!

Admittedly i'm sat here eating cake! I shouldn't be but it is sooo nice and has morphed into my weekly sweet treat - that and the fact we have so much of it sitting in the freezer.
Well the kids are bathed and sleeping happily in bed. Gave them a 'disco bath' ie a bath with some glow sticks & music playing. Thought they'd have some fun. It ended in tears as always - this time fighting over the glow sticks!
Money wise - spent £8 at the shops, needed to get a gift for son's friends birthday this weekend and some bits for our picnic tomorrow. Still on track with current budget.
Found out today that two different sets of friends are about to embark on major house renovation projects and I must admit I am a bit jealous because i'm not currently in the position to do so myself. However being on this path to debt free gives me some hope we can get there someday.
Going to head off now to make a cuppa and read a bit more of my book in bed.

I can also get jealous about other people's lifestyles. I try my best to take a step back and remind myself how far we have come. A year ago I would never have imagined we would be debt free in our new house. Some hard work and a bit of luck have played a part, but all the background stuff paying debt off has also been important.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉2

Nice day out today but was so happy to be home. Which is unlike me....! Explored a new area with the kids and visited a historical property. All was lovely but hated the main road separating the rest of the town from the train station. The main road was a death trap and freaked me out! It didn't help having two young kids, plus scooters x 2 and a heavy backpack full of packed lunch to lug across the road. Brought me back to being a child when playing chicken was a thing! (Not an activity i'd personally had any experience in! I must add....). Only spends were the return train fare which was just under £13 return, oh and a bottle of water as silly mummy me brought the kids plenty but forgot my own!
When we got back into our urban area, bumped into two sets of friends we knew we were home! Not quite sure rural life is for me just yet
Hope everyone else has had a good day - I was pleased the rain stayed away and was a nice day.2025 financial goals & challenges!

And also, I'm jealous of you even having a house to contemplate renovation for, we haven't even started saving up for a deposit yet.
I think it is just about looking at your own journey and celebrate how far you have come etc.Starting debt 2018: £26,000
