Bank Loan and CCJ

So here goes, I'm new to all this and i’ve only just began this journey. Que Long Story
Around i’d say 9-10 years ago “apparently” i had a loan taken out in my name. Now this only became apparent to me recently when i checked that my credit score was rubbish. Im 33 and was young and naive back in the day. As far as I'm aware after receiving a letter at my new address of the last 4 years this came to me as a bit of shock. It turns out my ex partner had taken a loan or two out in my name years ago (around 2007-2008). So when i’ve done some investigating it was all done in my name and nothing that i can do as I'm held accountable. The loan was with a Lloyds Bank. I also held a bank account and due to the nature of the break up (with the ex) i left all my bank account card at the previous address. When this was checked it turns out that there was a debt for an unpaid overdraft which has now turned into a CCJ. The CCJ has two years to run. Obviously i never received any paperwork (at previous address) or at my current one for the CCJ. Whilst investigating it turns out the loan is statue barred ? As the letter states it was way back. Its the CCJ that is damaging. And now as im older and want the fortunes or of a mortgage (something which i’ve never really had) its difficult. Any help or advice or even if i claim anything or any legal advice would be much appreciated

Provide evidence you are not liable? Your ex. is responsible, take them to Court. The phrase is statute barred...a statue is an entirely different thing BTW.0

Sorry my mistake damn auto correct on my phone.
As this was so many years ago and i’ve only just found this information out now, due to change of address etc etc. How can even obtain this information or even prove any of this. How do you even apply for a loan ? Is it an easy thing to do online without any proper checks. Was is that easy to get money a few years back ? My credit score has took a hit big time. Its something i’ve never really needed until now0 -
Ideally id like to get the CCJ seen to as there is nothing on my credit file about the loan. I just had a kind hearted letter asking / saying how much the loan was. Total shock to be honest. I seemed to have opened a right can of worms0

Settle the CCJ or let it run its course... either was your credit score has taken an impact. I don’t see that you have any way out of this (no loopholes I’m afraid)0

Would settling the CCJ improve the score ? According to the CCJ its over years old. Its really frustrating having to even consider paying something thats not mine. Even though its in my name.
I’d pay it tomorrow if i knew it would have a positive impact0 -
In theory a settled CCJ would look better than an active CCJ... question is do you require an improved credit score at this point (are you looking to buy property soon or in need of a loan etc) if not then perhaps worth waiting it out, only you can decide I’m afraid.0

To give you a bit of context with CCJs I have one, after 4 years of having one I got a credit card with my own bank, normal interest rates, prior to that I had a sub-prime card 3 years after the CCJ.
I've only just paid it off due to the amount (just under 5k).
You can report the loan / fraud to action fraud (AF), get a reference number and advise the lender, however don't expect AF to do anything as per the recent posts on MSE about them. It's up to the lender whether they believe you or not.
What is your ultimate aim? Is it to get normal credit ie credit cards/loans/overdraft or is it you want a mortgage?
If the latter, see an adverse broker, they are really helpful, providing you get a good one.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
