You are in Waitrose, there stuff is head and shoulders above the rest. With our regular money off coupons they are affordable.

Wow Wee!
I do all my grocery shopping at Fenwick Food Hall. It's miles above Waitrose on quality!0 -
Lidl sell mace, not in the year round jars but either in the Christmas selection of stuff or in the baking supplies. I think its baking, in small bags, 49P. Have to admit I've not seen arrowroot
Lidls clothes are not 2 sizes too small, they are true European sizes. If it says its a 16, its the old UK size 16 which has now been vanitied sized as a 14. Ie I wear size 10 jeans from anywhere then lidl, they need to be a 12 which are the same size as my size 10s from Primark
As already pointed out to you, Deli meat is no better then the packets of repacked, in fact its more dodgy. having worked on more then one supermarket deli counter, I can assure you then BB dates are not adhered to and the nice "on the bone hams" are actually chopped and formed around a bone - its not a leg of pig
I really think you need to give Lidl cheeses a try. Best parmesan you can buy from a supermarket without taking out a mortgage ( imho) and Ive converted most of my cheese loving friends to their extra mature cheddar , and all of them to their deluxe range of mature cheddar and stilton
isn't it great you get no quibble money back?
Yes, Waitrose has a brilliant no quibble money back policy
Recently they had a new cheese in which only came wrapped in small rounds. We asked if we could taste it but we couldn’t as they only sold it as one piece. Few minutes later one of the shop senior staff approached us with the cheese and said would we like to have it on them? (It cost £6)
The following week they had some more cheeses in the deli we hadn’t come across. OH asked the deli assistant if we could have one for free to try at home. We could and we did
As regular customers we get lots of 20% money off vouchers. The last lot had expired before I used them so I emailed Waitrose customer services to ask if they could replace them. The answer was no they couldn’t so they sent me a £20 gift token.
No point in arguing about the clothes. The item was clearly marked “size 22-24” and the friend I gave it to was a 16 and it only just fit.
I will happily try Lidl for cheese when they sell Kaltbach, Ramboul, Goat Gouda, smoked Wensleydale, smoked Lancashire, smoked Caerphilly and when they sell locally made Cheddar like the one in the farm up the road.
I forgot the time I bought what was supposed to be an electric tea pot. Fill with water, plug it in, when ready add tea. It exploded and I nearly ended up in hospital0 -

Fair point about the cheeses. I’d add the excellent fresh fish to that as well, and some of the meat.
But, and it’s a very big but, there’s a very substantial price premium on the ordinary foods, which will frequently be up to twice the price of Aldi and Lidl.
Once every two or three weeks to Waitrose is enough for this family to buy the things that can’t be had elsewhere.0
