I really think you need to give Lidl cheeses a try. Best parmesan you can buy from a supermarket without taking out a mortgage ( imho) and Ive converted most of my cheese loving friends to their extra mature cheddar , and all of them to their deluxe range of mature cheddar and stilton

A second for the cheeses, sometimes appear on offer.

They have a nice range of Christmas specials in at the moment. Stupidly some of the BBE dates are before Christmas.

I know it'll keep but some folk think it's instant death after BBE date

Talking of Lidl cheese, we bought some a while back, and all the packs were blown within a short time. Still well within their BBE date.

Took up with Lidl weeks back via their customer service people, usual emails with all the information requested, including photos.

Outcome: still waiting. Follow up email completely ignored.

Lidl customer service continues to be appalling, even on safety issues like this one - I suggested they should consider a recall.

I don’t think much of Lidl really. I don’t like the way they refuse to show clear dates on the fresh produce, unlike Aldi, rather than codes, and having just thrown out an entire pack of mouldy ones I don’t like the way they don’t refrigerate the grapes.

A lot of room for improvement, and Aldi still gets my vote, and money, wherever possible.

Agreed; I would choose Aldi every time though I do like some Lidl things.
I'm buying less and less there though.

I never, never buy fruit & veg in Lidl; too many bad experiences.
Their muffins which come either 4 large to a pack or lots of mini versions - again I never buy these any more because these often "turn" and go mouldy well before their "best before" date. The reaction from Lidl isn't worth repeating but was a waste of time.
Meat you have to be careful with too; I had a cook-in-the-bag chicken which was off despite being well in date, and frequently some of their meats are obviously "iify" being blown or discoloured.

Yes they refund no problem but I don't expect to have to take things back anywhere near as frequently as I do at Lidl.
    I certainly don't at Aldi.

Now it sounds like an anti-Lidl rant but really, it's not.
    At least, not purposely.
But it is a shame that Lidl's management don't seem to care and that even in the same area two separate shops can be completely different with one good & one bad.
Sadly my next nearest is 30 minutes away.

As you say, a lot of room for improvement.
Roll on the day when they listen to customers and introduce a few beneficial changes.

I have found the total opposite. About 6 months ago I complained to lidl about a member of staff who really did not want to be there and being charged twice when I only had one of a item. Very helpful and got sent a £10 lidl voucher.

On the other hand aldi when I complained about a member of staff not putting through things at 50% off. Did not notice until I got home. I got told to take the receipt back and get a refund!!!And there is the strangeness in Aldi's with lights in the car park. Since the clocks have changed they go off at 8.15pm but the shop shuts at 10pm. And that was 2/3 weeks ago and still nothing has been done about it.I brought it to their attention last year as well.

Still prefer to go to Aldi for my shopping though.

I have to admit my bias is towards Lidl, because we don't have Aldi in NI

I particularly like Lidl NI, because wherever possible, the food is from Ni producers or Eire

Seriously the meats, cheeses etc are top notch. Even the veg lasts well, I just made soup from some leeks I bought 4 to 6 weeks ago ( Grown in NI )

Its unpredictable though. Yesterday I ate some satsumas for the first time in ages and they were really zingy, juicy, sweet and delicious. Incredibly, they were from Lidl.

But I can't buy fruit & veg from somewhere that's unpredictable in the hope it will last and taste as it should.
I need confidence that it'll be good & I just can not get that at Lidl.
Leeks 4 to 6 weeks ago?
Not a chance here if you buy from Lidl - and yes I do know how to correctly store fresh fruit & veg.
    It would be mush, seriously.

Personally I hope Lidl get their act together, not only because of the problems many of us have but because I would really like to see them do well.
If it wasn't for both Aldi & Lidl, the majors would still be ripping us off big-time.
Even more than they currently do.

I hope they do too Dee but there’s been comments on here for years about the poor fruit and veg and it’s still as bad as it ever was.

Its not Lidl that seems to suffer with questionable fruit and veg. On faceache see a lot of people say the same about Aldi. I shop in aldi weekly and buy my fruit and veg there and rarely have any problems. Only issue I had was during the summer and bananas. But that would have been the same no matter where I bought them from.

Seems like the best place to post for Lidl shoppers.:)

My 2 Christmas favourites are chocolate marzipan and cherry liqueurs. This year, Aldi doesn't seem to have them. :(

Does anyone know if they are in Lidl? :)
