Virgin Media - Changing Account Holder to get new cust. deal?

We currently have Virgin Media in my name at our house, but I'm out of the introductory deal.

Can I cancel it in my name, then have my spouse (different surname) sign up on the "Fibre broadband & line rent: equiv £19.75/mth" deal?

Has anyone done this?

If so, how discrete would I have to be?

Would I have to pretend I'm moving out?

Would there be much downtime between switch over?

Give notice to cancel and they'll put you through to rentions where you can ask for a better deal. Virgin are generally good at giving you what you want to stay.


As to the other question, yes it's possible to say your moving but then they ask you where to and all that stuff, they're really cheeky. Just say your moving to Spain and the person moving in are interested in taking a service. Then get them to call for a new contract from a specified date and the down time will be minimal.

If they say no, I will try the other approach and if they ask, say I'm moving in with my mum who has Sky.
