Christmas Breakfast

My OH and I have decided that as it will the last year its just the two of us (bump is scheduled to make an appearance in March) that we would have Christmas just the two of us this year.

I would really like to do him a special breakfast to show him how much i love him and appreciate all he does - but i am really stuck for ideas.

I dont really want to do the fry up thing as he has that on sundays and i will have indigestion the rest of the day  - he doesnt like eggs so omelettes are out, or salmon, or bagels (he is very fussy) and due to advancing pregnancy I wont be able to face shops on xmas eve to get any fresh bread etc

We will be having quite a big main meal so really just looking for something simple that will stop us (ok me) snacking all morning.

I am open to all ideas - hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance

Nigella has a gorgeous recipe for some breakfast muffins that she gives her children for christmas breakfast every year. (or so she says). anyway. would that work for you and your bf? you can mix it all the night before, and just pop into the oven when you get up. if it would, I'll pm you the recipe.

What about pancakes.. you could then have savoury or sweet fillings, for instance grilled bacon or sausages or buy a really nice compote of your favourite fruit and serve with clotted cream... yummy.... if you are feeling extra lazy you could even buy ready made pancakes they are super just heated in a hot frying pan....

My hubbies christmnas day brekkie tradition is pate, does your hubbie like pate. A good brussels pate is about £1 and get some fancy panini or english muffins or bagels even and just freeze them until christmas eve. Yum.

Bucks fizz for him and orange juice for you, warm croissants or french stick with a black cherry preserve and a flavoured fresh coffee with a large blob of cream

I can't post it directly here cos it'll contravene copyright rules, but there's a copy to be found here.

Stollen which is traditionally made for Christmas and can be made (another Delia) or bought. Ditto Pannetone which is lighter and more breakfast-y.
    Have a lovely time.
