Is Bankruptcy my only answer?

  • I also didn't realise the thread was 2 years old.

If I may point out though, the utter pointlessness of spending the last 2 years paying back creditors and then going BR.
  • Cheers for your comments property.advert. I understand what you are saying but after looking into BR 2 years ago, the fear of it's effects and me starting quite a well payed job at the time I decided I would try and pay my debts.

But then in July this year there was no Job, So back to square one! Now harm in trying tho because as you would know if I went bankrupt whilst in employment and earning a reasonable amount I would have been given an IPO.

So nothing lost and nothing gained!

ed - you've tried, that's all you can do. sometimes you have turn around and say enough is enough though, and losing your job is out of your control.

ooh i'm guessing you've seen the judge by now..... :)
  • Why didnt you take out redundancy protection insurance at the time when you took out your mortgage ?

I don't see it as pointless, personally. Just shows the OP was doing their best to repay the money, is honest, would repay the money if the could and that there is simply no other choice.

it was rather pointless, but only in retrospect.

surprisingly, it would be deemed thoroughly praiseworthy on other forums...

however, we BR's do have the benefit of hindsight...had we all known a lot more about the whole debt situation, years ago.....?

and then, the same sort of thing happend with Endowment Mortgages 20 years ago....and look where they all ended up?

seeing the light isnt' something that can happen quickly...
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......
  • Well what I thought was going to be a straight forward day turned in a nightmare with a happy ending!

I got to court for 9 am half an hour early to beat the rush, At 9:30 am the clerk called my name and I thought blimey that was quick, But then he pointed out that the judge couldn't see me until i had corrected my forms. Giving me 30 minutes else I would have to come back monday!

The Error, for the House Voluntary Repossession I had put the Solicitors details not the Mortgage companies details, So there's me at court with a major crisis! I wanted this done TODAY! (Not Monday)

So in a massive panic I got on my phone and rudely woke my brother who had just done a night shift to find the Solicitors details so i could ring them for the correct information, I started to panic as I was desperate to see this through! At first the Solicitors were arguing that I had the correct information, Then the lady said she would talk to her manager and ring me back within 2 minutes. To her word she rang me back with all the Mortgage Account details etc to my relief!

I then went to the desk where a different clerk said I had missed the window and would have to come back on Monday! I asked would you like to see a grown man cry? I walked off in horror and went to the Office were you submit your papers to rearrange for Monday.

At the desk was the Clerk from earlier and I basically begged him is there nothing he could do as I was ready 10 minutes before the deadline! Giving him credit he took me back upstairs where he asked an emergency Judge if he would do the case, he then came out with the papers signed and we then went back downstairs to finalise the paperwork.

It could have gone a lot better but I can only blame myself for the error on my forms, but in the heat of the moment it was everyone else's fault!

But it's now done. The OR called me 1 hour after and booked me for our Telephone Interview on the 5th January.
