Just be as honest as you can be! Put your house, your redundancy, your fear of bankruptcy and the hope you would extricate yourself from your debts. They have heard it all before, so have no fear that you are alone.

    Best Wishes Fred
  • Also I'm Self Employed but currently out of work so should I tick both Self Employed and Un Employed on question 6.1?

For the average monthly take home i've based this on my last 3 months earnings.
  • well said MicheH,

good luck ed! you will be absolutely fine...it's not as bad as you imagine. let us know how you get on :)
  • I arrived at Court for 11 am to beat the crowds, went in feeling anxious and asked to submit my petition, The lady at the desk took my name and asked me to wait as I was 10 mins early.

While I was waiting the crowds entered, by the time my name was called there was at least 8 of us there for BR. It felt almost like an AA meeting all discussing our problems but it had a good feeling "Your far from alone!"

When I met the clerk he went through all the forms, checking everything and he also advised me to claim back the court fees as I'm eligible as I'm currently out of work. So there's my first positive of the day!

I have to go back tomorrow at 9:30 to see the Judge but I already feel lighter on the shoulders! It's happening now and I can't wait to see 2010!

Keep you posted on tomorrows outcome!

it's a bizarre old day isn't it! good news on the fees...

when i went (last month) i was only with the judge for 2 minutes he asked me a couple of questions - salary, debt etc then said some nice things and that was it!

good luck tomorrow, nearly there! :)

Hi Im new here and am so worried.
My husband has just left me today and our two young children in our mortgaged house with 25k worth of credit cards outstanding. We were already on an interest only payment for the mortgage - but now that he has gone I am wondering if the government will pay this interest free. The house is worth about 175000k. I am not working. The credit cards are mostly in my name - to pay the mortgage after trusting my ifa husband that a deal was going to come off that would cover all the outstanding debt. i am at my wits end. My children 7 and 5 are looking forward to xmas - all im thinking of is where are we going to live and what on!
Can I just add that i have never had credit until I met my husband five years ago - I was so right.
Please any help about benefits for single parents but especially the mortgage would be so helpful.
Ps I intend to go back to work as soon as this situation is sorted out because I so dont want to live on benefits
    Thanks for reading
