I am glad I didn't upset you and I, too, very much respect your views and what you do on this forum. And I, totally, do get (and have got) your experience and stance on parking and PPCs. Your experience in a large metropolis is much different to mine in small town Kent and we both speak with this in mind
I mentioned your name, purely, in response to the comments about extending the stay. There was no intention on my part to link you to anything else - and, to be honest, I was pretty surprised when I saw your post about calling you out by name. Again, if you want me to amend a post I will, happily, do so
In terms of extending time then, honestly, it wouldn't work here. It's a smallish shop and the time allowed is more about letting people use other local shops which is very positive in my view. If you extended them the local estate agents would be in there all the time buying another coffee to keep their cars parked! From what I was told by Waitrose staff it was their (and others) abuse of the free coffee that, amongst other things led to some of the changes from the original offer.
I very much appreciate your comments and return your respect

No problem leave your post as it is relevant to your shop and coupon mad says the same, but like me she makes the point that I made to Asda , it breaks the EA2010 which I was and am covered by, but not necessarily the OP, and waitys won't change it unless it's brought to their attention, hence why we all encouraged complaining to the local MP
My local MP got involved with our local Morrisons when they introduced ECP last year so maybe that is why there is a terminal and sign at the customer service desk ?
Peer pressure ?
The OP should complain to their local MP who could write to waitys about this issue, if they can get Mike Ashley in and alter contracts and security search time at his distribution centre etc , they can influence other CEO,s the same way
But as cm said , a loyal customer for many years should not put up with this, which was the point I was making, but in general terms, plus even if it turned out to be your local waitys, or the one in Brighton too , I would still encourage them to complain, which is what Misty's is saying0 -
Waitrose have responded to my complaint asking for a copy of the PCN. Is this OK to send over?0

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Thanks to everyone who helped, Waitrose got the notice cancelled.

Yay, before even trying an appeal, Plan A is ALWAYS to complain to the retailer and I am constantly amazed people don't just do that first.
Well done!

Very good to hear! Well done!
I had a quick look at the interesting (and very civil) debate on this thread about the issues small supermarkets may have with parking etc.
I suppose my view tends to be that honest customers deserve leeway because the whole PPC scenario is so disproportionately punitive and vexatious plus it's a dodgy industry. The initial charge is large. Appealing it etc. can be almost fun once you've had some practice but for most it's a bit of a nightmare at least at first. Nobody deserves that for being a bit slow doing the shopping.0 -
Yes, complain, complain and complain again.
It took me 6 months of e-mailing the management company- and anybody I could find in the management company- before they took very effective action and cancelled contracts they had with VCS at numerous sites across the region. It also got me a nice 'discontinue' letter for my 'fine'..........
Well worth it
