I've completed and exchanged 1 hour ago. Going to pick up the keys in a few minutes.

Tomorrow I have to inform my LL about moving on the 4th of September. Still a bit scared but everybody says it is OK as the is illegal hence unenforceable.

In that case congratulations on your new home

It will be OK with the landlord. There's nothing he can do to you now!

You should start your own thread for this.
However legally he's responsible and noone else and thats a lesson for him to learn. BUT if he did take you to court it's very likely you will be asked to pay towards the bill as you did use the water and a judge would use common sense.

What would go in your favour is that you have offered to pay some of it which is the right thing to do. You can easily estimate which part of the bill is yours given the time you lived there etc.

As for calling you 6 times a day tell him if he continues you'll report him to the police, its harrassment.

Tell him to take your offer or take you to court.

foxreymann - don't fprget to read and photo (if possible) electric, gas and water meters when you vacate and also do the same at your new property - you don't want to be paying either after you have left or for energy/water used at your new place before you took possession.
