I wouldn't recommend Miele dishwashers. Their washing machines are excellent, though.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Thank you so much Fire Fox, will be valuable in me choosing the right model :)

I used WHICH extensively recently during a renovation buying all appliances. Their research is in-depth and thorough but don't take the "best-buy" at face value because the scores are made of multiple factors and you may have different needs on what the most important factors are for you. If you are someone who reads the detail stuff then it's very useful to use WHICH report on individual product review.

Have you had a bad experience? I have heard of some issues with certain models and hard water.

Yes. MIL bought Miele, and it was not particularly good or reliable. It was also v expensive. We bought Bosch and were v happy.

I had a Bosch free standing which I replaced with a Miele integrated when I replaced my kitchen. My decision was based on Miele’s reputation for best quality but to be honest, the old Bosch did a better job.

I’d also look for one that has a time remaining indicator, previous house I installed a Neff integrated one that shone a little clock onto the floor beneath it. The Miele gives no indication although I generally set it to run during the night to use economy 7 electricity.

People are overpaying for an average product.

What would you recommend as a more reliable alternative?

I have just sold my 16 year-old AEG Favourit stainless steel dishwasher. I replaced the solenoid and cutlery basket last year, hoping to keep it, but we need to downsize. It was built like a tank, but basically the only noise it made was the clunk of the tablet hitting the base. The new owners have said it's working perfectly.
I'm not sure if the build quality of newer models will match up, but I'm now looking for a very quiet, slimline, integrated dishwasher.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
