Nationwide Flexplus warning - major downgrading of benefits

of interest to me, is that they are removing foreign transaction fees, which is a plus for me as a traveller as it gives me access to a visa card instead of a mastercard which in some parts of the world isnt accepted.0

I'll be downgrading. We weren't making use of the mobile phone or travel insurance anyway, so it's now basically £156/year for breakdown cover - which I can get for two cars for just £49 without an excess (according to 2 minutes on Money Supermarket).
Just a question of whether I downgrade and stay with the Flex Direct, or go to another bank and get a switch bonus. The latter seems like a better option.0 -

I'm debating a FlexDirect or FlexAccount as the only substantial difference appears to be the 1% interest. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yet they continue with shelling out £200 a pop on refer a friend!0

I have to check how much good travel policy will cost me with other provider. Nationwide had some good T&C, so it might be difficult to find similar policy.
Otherwise, breakdown cover comes with all my cars and our phones are rather cheap. Husband's costed new £200, and mine is now worth maybe £300. Higher excess for higher cover is of no use to us. And we don't lose our phones or throw them to break glass.
If I find good travel policy, I will keep downgraded account with Select Card because we have mortgage with NW anyway.0 -
I've decided to empty and close mine, as the switch date was 2 says after the £13 fee coming out.0

The increase of the mobile phone excess is probably the nail in the coffin for me,0

Depends where you look.
ProtectYourBubble charges £13.99 p/m for an iPhone XS Max with £100 excess for damage.
NW charge £13 per month for the phone insurance (and all the rest) and only charge £75 Excess.0 -
Just had my communication from NW BS regarding changes to my Flexplus A/C.
Moved to them from HSBC a couple of years ago and was happy, until now. The gradual erosion of benefits will now prompt me to look elsewhere.
Perhaps the packages offered by Halifax or Co-Op may be more attractive/competitive?0
