Only that what they told me in person doesn't match anything on the sheet they gave me telling me what was done! The sheet tells me they used part synthetic oil, the service manager said they used Castrol Magnatec fully synthetic. They ticked off things that they didn't do (they told me they took all the wheels off, greased them and put them back on yet the locking wheel nut was in my pocket![/B) ... Then of course there's the many negative posts you find when you Google Arnold Clark - But no disbelieve here at all :rotfl:

Yeah, but sadly it won't have a full service history - I know I can stamp the book myself providing I stamp it with something like "DIY service" or "Serviced by owner" but I don't think it'll hold much merit as opposed to an actual garage stamping it.

And why would you do that?

You are now getting 41 more mpg?

The reason I asked earlier about disbelieving Arnold Clark was I wondered if the OP had some evidence to make them ask about the oil claim.

Having had cars serviced by Arnold Clark, only twice mind, I would never use them again. Not too bad for car purchase but extremely variable for servicing.

I bought a VW Galaxy. People were taking them in and the invoice would say Shell Super Duper was used. "You've used Super Duper?" "Yes it's excellent oil" "But it's unsuitable for my vehicle" "I'll just get the manager" "you have a problem Sir?" "you've used Super Duper in my car and it's unsuitable" "And what oil would you recommend?" "Well Miller's PD is certified VW505.01" "I am sorry we made a mistake on your invoice. We used Miller's PD. I'll just change the invoice. There you go. Thank you. Goodbye." There is no viable cheap way of proving what was used. The garages know it.
  • I have had various Toyota cars from Arnold Clark, they have always used the oil specified in the service schedule, which was especially important in hybrid engines.

They have been happy to show me the container when asked.

I purchased a 2 years servicing deal when I bought my car new from Arnold Clark in April 2018.  My second service is due on the 18th April this year.  I bought the servicing to keep my 3 year warranty valid.  The Corona virus lockdown has resulted in me being unable to book the car in for the service.  Does anyone have a clue whether my warranty will voided through no fault of my own?  Would be grateful for any advice or information regarding this.
    Many thanks in advance.

Only the manufacturer can confirm this, but I'd expect them to give some leeway based on the current situation.

My wife is in the same boat as her car's 1st service is due now but cannot currently be booked in.

    A VW Galaxy?!?! Wow!
Shell do have a 505.01 approved oil so not sure what the point of that story was?

I had a new expensive VW with a Ford badge. For the first time in my life I was going to take my car to a garage for servicing. I joined the Galaxy forum. People that took them to Ford nearly always got unsuitable oil because it needed special VW oil. So a main dealer service history would be the worst thing you could do. Most VW dealers wouldn't service them because they had a Ford badge. Lots of people suffered all sorts of dishonesty. Garages don't have any professional standards. They don't need to be honest.  They will tell you anything. So I was left with 2 options. Pay £200-300 pounds and have no idea whether it had the right oil in it or pay £30 and know it was correct. How can you prove what oil they used? Mass Spectrscopy? Gas chromatography? Are you going to pay for that? If you don't do it yourself surely a mobile mechanic would be next best. You could watch them put it in.
