Calculating ESA

I have been awarded ESA
Living Expenses 73.10

Disability Income Guarantee 16.80

Support Group 38.55
Total 128.45

They are saying that I have more money coming in than the minimum amount that the Government say I need to live on

I am on PIP standard care and high rate mobility and also no-one claims carers allowance for me is there anything else that should be added to the initial total of 128.45

Thank you

PIP isn't means tested so isn't counted.

Do you claim anything else, such as pensions, live with a partner that works?

Do you live alone or classed as living alone?

    Hi
I do have a small pension and I live alone but I do not know how they calculate the disability components whether they are added at this stage or when you are awarded income related esa Hope this makes sense

This is the build up for income based ESA. Based on what you have said you are entitled to the Severe Disability Premium which is an additional £65.85/week. This can be backdated to whenever you first met the qualifying conditions.

    How much is your pension?
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Your pension will be counted as Income £1 for £1 when calculating the Income Related top up, so whether you'll receive anymore ESA will depend on your pension amount per week.

It is slightly more than the £128 not much so if the disability premiums were added at the beginning it would be less

In that case you need to contact ESA and ask about the SDP. If awarded (and backdated) you will be entitled to the difference between the new ESA amount and your pension.

Okay so you say your pension is slightly more than £128. As it is taken in penny for penny then you would need to be entitled to ~£239 (I think its impossible to get to this level of entitlement except for maybe pensioners) of ESA for the income related to be paid in addition to the ESA contributory.

The letter, albeit horribly written, is saying that you're not entitled to income related because the income you have is too much. You will be entitled to £111.65 as going by your other threads your pension income is disregarded because of the transitional protections.
