This is just my income and expenditure as hubby pays for mortgage, council tax, insurances etc plus sky/phone. We do not have a joint account due to him being stung in the past. I know I am partly responsible for these but on a day-to-day basis they do not impact my expenditure. I recently increased my hours at work but due to birthdays, holidays and activities with the children over the school break, I haven't felt the impact of the extra pay.

Any help/advice greatly appreciated about how I can change things around. No real savings to speak of and what I do have, i would rather keep as an emergency fund.

    I don't understand that, sorry.

If you're married you should know this sort of thing.

I am not too sure what you are asking for. After paying everything it seems that you have about £200 left. If that is the case then pay it off the debt with the highest interest and if you don't have it, keep a spending diary to see where it is going.

The only cut I can see is to miss the hairdressers every other month. Have you anything to sell?

I keep a monthly spreadsheet of my spends. I put money aside for the hairdressers rather than go every month. Having 2 children obviously incurs little ad-hoc spends here and there and I know I need to cut these down going forward.

it is difficult to offer practical advice to one half of a couple with this sort of financial setup.
Without you knowing what his figures look like (even if you don't want to reveal them here) how can you tell if, for example, he should also be covering the groceries? If he has a lot of surplus cash at the end of the month and you don't then something is wrong and you are not working together as partners. Regardless of how much you earn it should not be that you are always short and incurring interest if he is not in the same boat.

I do know that most of his income is spoken for. We have 2 properties, both mortgages are paid by him (we occupy one and his parents live in the other - long story and the biggest regret we have)

In that case there isn't much advice to offer. 2 adults and 2 children can be fed for less than £300 with a bit of planning. A second job maybe?

If only I had time for a second job! I work school hours 5 days a week every week including school holidays which means additional trips to and fro to my mums house who kindly helps out with childcare during the holidays.
