Monese Debit card - is it worth it?

Wondering if I should order a monese debit card. Going through the prompts on the app to order card, I can see it asks to confirm address.

I stopped at this point because there isn't any mention of the £4.95 issue fee.

Does anyone know if they mention the fee after confirming the address or is the card ordered as soon as I confirm address? (it'll be a bit sneaky for them to not mention the fee - me thinks - even if it's mentioned on the FAQ)

Last but not least, is the card worth it?

I don't particularly need it for spending and cash withdrawals abroad, as I have both Halifax Clarity and Santander zero. I have the monzo card for a debit card. Maybe have Monese as a backup debit card for travel spending?

  • Maybe being dense, but I'm missing the benefit of paying for a card you don't need

The only application for pre-paid cards in this day and age that I can think of is to hand it to your kids and control their allowance/spending.

Many banks offer better terms for "travel" cc/dc and instant lock via app, so I fail to see why would anyone pay £5 for a Monero card.

  • But I think Monese have changed their plans and cards are free on all them now... 🤔 Have you checked on their website?

I'm using Monese and like it in general, if you're looking for a referral code, let me know.

I went on the app help section and asked. The automated assistant MO came back with the info:
    Contactless debit card: FREE

Thanks. But I joined a while ago. :)
BTW, what do you think of the vertical design card?. is it easier to use?. Starling also has the same, I believe.

This is not meant harshly, but why in the name of all that is good on this earth would the vertical design of a card make it easier to use???

Do you have difficulty putting a horizontally oriented card in an ATM?
