I thought I'd try a bag of them after seeing them in my local farm shop for £2.50/10kg, and they are fine. Some are a bit skinny but they are all in good knick and taste just as good....I'll buy them again.
I always use these carrots, the more people I speak to the more I realise they are all buying them for home cooking. I find them far fresher than the supermarket. The only difference I find is that they go limper quicker like organic or home grown, it made me wonder if they were organic? They are £1.95 here from animal food suppliers.
Horse carrots are the too big, too small and misshapen ones that our supermarkets won't buy because all their fussy customers want ones that are the same shape or size. There's nothing wrong with them. They were the ordinary ones which everybody use to buy before supermarkets existed.
