Creative Surround Sound System

I have a Creative Surround Sound System with seven speakers and a sub woofer.


It has worked very well when connected to my old desktop computer with the three plugs.


Now I only have a laptop which only has one sound output socket to which I have connected the green plug but now I only have sound coming out of two speakers.


How do I correct this so I get sound from all speakers?

You'll need a soundcard that is capable of outputting surround sound. Does the laptop have that?

How can I check that?


It only has one sound output socket


If it has'nt can I get one to fit inside or does it have to be stand alone?

Depends what OS you are using but if you do a search for that there will be an explanation.


You can get external cards which may well do the job.

not sure why all the questions on sound cards.
Laptop is highly unlikely to have the outputs required.
A usb external sound card would be the easiest option IMO

I should have started with asking what type of laptop it was. Some HP machines are capable and have the outputs for surround sound, sadly not this particular model.



I did suggest an external card in my second reply.
