Local High Speed BT internet access is 10MB - in West London

Thinking of taking out a BT internet/tv sub and astonished to see max ddownload speed locally is 10mb - in a highly populated part of west London. Have they given up even trying to compete with other suppliers locally?

You say 'high speed' but is that actually ADSL? If it is fibre then anyone else using the OR network will be similarly restrained so I'm not sure what your point is?0 -

Don't know. I have just input the postcode again and it returned a completely different part of town................appear to be two different parts of town with the same post code, about two miles apart.0

Not if the postcode is wrong as may well be the case here .
But does look like OP is looking at ADSL not fibre .0
