Is it the one 2 doors away from the corner shop?

The sign saying open until 10 7 days a week would put me off.

Especially as it has a small area outside where people could hang around.
  • You need to do a lot of work on the presentation, and you need to lower the price due to the shop and the flats behind

Why does the ad mention a website and a hotline? Either that whole bit needs to be removed or they need to actually provide the website and phone number. Weird they have just removed those bits.

Not much more to add. The picture of the front and back of the house could easily be improved to no cost (option of adding some pot plants or something to the back at minimal cost) and might be more inviting.
  • For me the tiled floor in the living room would make me completely dismiss it - a big rug might help. Just looks a bit cold.
  • Thanks to all who’ve offered opinions here and advice (husband of original poster here) ultimatey it feels that Purple Bricks are only capable of selling when the market is bouyant enough for individual properties to generate interest from well presented presence on Right Move. They’ve no capacity to be more proactive in drumming up interest than that.

Inadequate photos & descriptions haven’t helped us, nor is the App fully functional to upload and edit your own imagery with anything other than full on paparazzi kit!, plus a test phone call to their booking hotline took 5 mins 37 seconds to be answered. Not good, how many may give up on that and go on to the next on a shortlist to view?. Final straw was a promise to come take new pictures that failed to materialise on a following day.

I don’t blame the rep for our postcode, think that person tried their best in the trying circumstance of an inadequate infrastructure... We’ve learnt lessons from this and hopefully will find a way forward that’s right for our family. Appreciate all those who’ve taken the time to be supportive in that 🙂 don’t think we’d recommend Purple Bricks in the meantime...

I'm really sorry to hear what a bad job they've done for you. You're right, people aren't going to wait in a queue for 5+ mins (or a lot arent any). It could be a big factor.

I agree with someone previous that if you get more photos, then a rug in the living room might help. It looks a bit like a large entrance hall at the moment because of the floor. I thought it was an odd set up but then realised its the living room. It would feel less lobby-y with a rug to make it a bit warmer/softer. I like the practical floor but it needs to have something on it IMO.

PB and the like simply win business on price. People don't think about whether the cost of a good local EA is actually money well spent.

A third bedroom is useful, a room which can only be accessed via another bedroom, less so. Though those appear to be all the rage in Norwich.

    LOL! :rotfl:

Not just a Norwich characteristic- it's quite common in Victorian terraced houses (two plus one in EA speak). I don't know what the thinking behind it was- a combination of space saving in the days of very large families and being able to easily check up on the wee ones in the night I suppose. Again, some people are turned off by it and some aren't. One of my best friends had that arrangement and she found it quite useful as she had a son and a granny who regularly stayed so son had the second bedroom and granny (who baby-sat) had the plus-one. When son grew older it was useful when his teenage mates came to stay.

I agree with AdrianC about the cost of a good local EA being money well spent. As has been said, PB & co are fine in a buoyant market but a decent local EA are worth their weight in gold in the current conditions.

Good luck OP- something will turn up soon, you'll see :)
