Meaning in this case that your son has no tickets and no cash, either.

But the son was happy just to let the whole issue go and lose the £440 anyway.

If the payment comes forth, all well and good, if it doesn't, he's no worse off than he was before

Just found out the Norwegian has booked a hotel. He didn't have anything booked before, so he is going to send the tickets there. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is genuine.

We checked the people out on Facebook and Twitter and they seem okay.

IMO you have been enabling not helping your son. What happened to ...??

I have asked him twice to do that but he won't take my advice so I can't do any more. At the end of the day its up to him.

Has your son familiarised himself with the terms and conditions/ user agreements/ policies/ rules/ guidelines of PayPal, Twickets, eBay etc. for buyers and sellers?

That will cover listings, payments, safe traceable transfer of goods or services to genuine buyers, how to avoid scammers, fraudsters and other shady individuals who operate online, legal rights and contractual responsibilities.

The 'fingers crossed' approach reminds me of those old teenage pregnancy/ contraception adverts. :(

What happened was that I advised him to relist them. I showed them what you folks told me about paypal and he still wanted to sell them to the same people. It was - I'm not talking about it anymore.. So yes, I am keeping my fingers crossed because foolish and trusting he may be but I still don't want him to lose the money. He sent the tickets special delivery to the hotel so there would have been a signature.

I asked him to ask them if they received the tickets and they confirmed they have, so he has that in writing.

Anyway, I will update to let you all know whether he has been scammed or not.

I'm still wondering how all this is affecting the marriage, relationship or family.

You could look at a lot of threads and say that. At least this is money related and of course it is family. A lot of threads on this board don't have anything to do with money.
