Last of the big estates.

I'm looking to get a big-ish estate. The trouble I have is apart from the mondeo (which I dont like the look of), none of them 2009-2012 region are big enough.
I really liked the 2007 honda accord tourer, It looks big but a slightly more up to date model 2008+ looks like those "sportback" estates that are maybe a ft longer than a hatchback.
What options are available, it seems that all estates are shrinking and if you want a space you need to look at people carriers.
n.b. needs to be petrol too. As I am close to ULEZ zone.

The answer, as it always is, is a Skoda Octavia Estate; or if you really need cavernous, a Skoda Superb Estate.0

It doesn't look that big from the side, the hatch is sloped quite a bit, which limits your load capacity a bit. Did I say looks matter to me?
Hmm, skoda superb estate does look miles better though.
I take it, these are rebadged a4 and a6.0 -
Insignia Tourer? I had the hatch for a few months and the boot was big so I am guessing the estate is huge.0

I’ve had both. The Octavia is bigger inside than the Mondeo, and the Superb is truly enormous inside, even with the slope.
Both are bigger than the equivalent A4 and A6, which both had frankly disappointing inside space given the outside size.0 -
Thanks the other requirement is that it has to be petrol. I live in London and the ULEZ is going to be a killer.
2010 ish was unfortunately the era which all car manufacturers were going diesel crazy, and their petrol varients were pants.
I'd like a good reliable petrol engine on the estate too.0 -

No (but the Seat Exeo was an old-model A4 rebadged).seatbeltnoob wrote: »I take it, these are rebadged a4 and a6.
Both Superb and Octavia are on the Golf platform, same as Audi A3 and TT, as are most of the non-Audi VAG SUVs.0 -

The Superb and Octavia are both based on the Golf platform.
I was after a large petrol estate and went for a 2011 Mazda6 which I've had five years now and few issues with bar wear and tear ones. On paper it's one of the bigger boots in its class and it will take my mountain bike straight in without needing to remove anything (despite the high front and wide bars) plus it's a pleasant car to drive with decent standard specs.0 -
