So I feel I am a big spender compared to this list, but that does not mean I don't mean to keep at it and so far this month (roughly counting from last Thursday have thrown off no big surprises except an improvised dinner yesterday that cost me £2.10 in taters, kale and bread. Tomorrow I will be going shopping again and a cap of £50 ideally for the week. I am still slightly feeding off my big shops last month, but after the middle of this month we will be just 2 people again.

A big shop in Aldi today.I keep saying I am going to start shopping at Aldi/Lidl,and I do for a couple of visits, but then go back to simply picking up stuff in whatever supermarket I am driving near (usually daily!) :o.Now that I am trying very hard to cut back,I am going to the effort to be more economical, and have made an effort to try the cheaper supermarket.I was shocked how cheap it was, especially meat!Total spent today was £79.87
Having said all that,I did have to go to the corner store this morning to buy milk:(£1.75),then to a different corner store tonight to buy paprika :o (£1.00).

Total spent today is £82.62.This should last my family (2 adults,3 teens,a 10yo) at least a week, topping up only milk, bread and fruit.

    Spent this month:
    £90.12/250

So at this point I am having a much better start to the month than last week I have used 144 all together and this includes a shop for the weekend, £10 worth of food for uni son, and £20 for ds lunches in school. So am optimistic.

Evening all. OH & I stopped at M & S after running post-work errands. We were in the store at about 8:00pm and noticed the YS were much better than they usually are. We got a bag of tomatoes for 11p for instance. What a difference a few hours makes in deals.

We spent £31.16 for lots of fruit (watermelon, strawberries, raspberries, and bananas), coffee, 2x egg mayo, peanut butter, trash bags, YS kippers and butter for only £1.10, the YS tomatoes, spring onions, a bottle of sugar free elderflower cordial, a chocolate parfait dessert for OH, and a container of masala sauce from their new cooking ingredients line.

    TOTALS SO FAR:
    £74.91/£170
    2 / 10 NSD

The masala sauce really hit the spot when I combined it with some ground beef, kale and red bell pepper I cooked yesterday. Kind of like a b*stard ground beef curry. It was exactly what I wanted yesterday but it didn’t really manifest.

The elderflower cordial was a new thing for us and OH wanted to try it. You can taste the sucralose but it’s not too bad compared to most fake sweeteners I’ve tasted here in the U.K. I kind of wish companies would just reduce sugar without adding extra fake sweeteners. The drinks/food would likely taste just fine otherwise.

Anyway, that should do us for food through to the weekend. We’ve got broccoli, kale and red pepper in the fridge and leftovers to use up. The only thing we may need is to buy more yoghurt on Sunday or something. The register also spit out a £5 off £35 voucher that’s good for the next two weeks. I think we’ll use that to stock up on a few things for OH before I return to the US.
