Hello,

Been looking at energy saving club and I’m confused. I currently pay £35 a month with co-op energy. The deal that was suggested said it was £200 cheaper but the monthly direct debit was £54 a month and I’m confused.

You say you are paying Coop £35 but is this based on ACTUAL readings - what is the bottom line are you in credit or debit ?

The important bit is your consumption rather than £

What is your ACTUAL consumption in kwh - let us know and we will crunch numbers

  • I am in credit £116

    1662kwh - elec
    9371kwh - gas

Are you saying that your annual consumption for electricity is 1662kh - that is half the national average; and that gas annual is 9371kwh - that's about average.

Your gas alone is £300 a year (assuming 3p/unit) - if the electric si correct that is £240 (assuming 15p) add standing charges and VAT and you bill is over £600. Where on earth does the £35 a month come from.

  • That’s the email I got from GB energy. 1662kwh.

    £35 being high or low?

The saving quoted is not against what you are paying now or even what you would pay is the same tariff is available but against what Coops standard tariff would be. I agree its silly and confusing but that the rules.

  • Would you say stay with coop then?

Look at the annual cost of the tariff, not what you pay monthly to a supplier

YE will charge you £629 per year, a saving of £254 per yaer.

If you switch to YE, your account balance will be zero at the start.

    £629pa/12 = £52.42 pcm
The image you show indicates an estimated monthly payment of £52 per month

Use more or less than the annual consumption consumed, and the £629 pa estimate will change.

Have you your own meter readings from about 12 months ago and now ?

From my calculations way too low.

Could you post your last bill - (blank out the private details) take a photo and use something like imgur and post the link but make a simple obvious mistake in the link

If the Kwh figures you quote are correct then £35 per month does not nearly cover them and your credit of £116 is doubtful.

The figure of £54 per month is nearer the mark.

The is a quote from the MSE CEC. The quote is only generated that way on that service if the OP specifically requests it to be. :)

The rules you quote are only applicable to Ofgem accredited comparison sites. The MSE CEC is NOT an Ofgem accreditred comparison sites.
Even Ofgem accredited comparison sites can offer alternative methods of calculation.

If you are correct, maybe the OP is trying to be "silly and confusing"
