PPI just AWARDED but got default but over six years old

    Two outcomes possible here.

    1 - they cant find any record of your debt (unusual but has happened). So, they pay you
    2 - they see you defaulted and they use the redress against that debt (the most common scenario).

    If the redress is greater than the debt, you get the excess amount. Also, often you will get the interest part of the redress whilst the capital part (refund of premiums) goes against the debt.

    So, it is worth it.

    A double whammy for you then. Your old debt is forgotten and they refund you the PPI!
