Can anyone help?
I got this message “I was looking at a laptop and wondering would you think it was worth giving another £124 for the i7 processor over the i5 processor? It's a Huawei matebook 13.”

Depends what you're going to be using it for.
You won't notice any difference whatsoever if all you go is play YouTube, go on the internet and write letters.0 -

an i3 may out perform an i7 - it depends on how many generations between them. Compare apples with apples, also use cpu bench marking sites0

Presumably University work is (in theory) bucket load of typing for a Thesis or dissertation or something that involves Word. You don't need a lot of power for that.
If you was going to try and game on it, the i7 could be beneficial over the i5. But if you're not, stay with the i5. You could probably even drop to an i3 with an SSD.0
