Unless i'm very wrong the warm homes award is only for electric ?
From Gov.uk: "You may be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity. Contact your supplier to find out."0 -
Thanks EON Comp, i hadn't considered that!
Although, i have both Gas and Electric, and i'm sure i just have an 'energy account' number.
Edit: So i've just noticed the previous 2 posts, and it seems that is fact the case, its actually for electric.....how strange!0 -
It is most probably the case that as not everyone has gas, but 99.9% have electricity. But it does not really matter which account it is paid onto. You still end up paying £140 less, whether it is paid into your gas or electricity account.
I have applied with EON (hopefully I will get it) but my heating is gas and my gas company is Zog. If it went into my account today, my DD would drop from £29 a month to £11 a month. Giving me some play, in case I need to increase by Zog DD.0 -

Hello MoneyMate and it doesn't matter if the property is heated by electricity or gas.
Warm Home Discount is paid to eligible customers against their electricity account number or, for dual fuel, their energy account number.
Hope this explains MoneyMate.

Yes, you're very wrong. It should be 'electricity', not 'electric'.
From Gov.uk: "You may be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity. Contact your supplier to find out."
Spot on Gerry1. Eligible customers can have the Warm Home Discount put on their gas accounts. No problem for those with dual fuel as it will be paid directly to this single account. For those with separate electricity and gas accounts, the payment will initially be made on their electricity account and then transferred to the gas account if requested.
Customers who only take gas from us will need to apply to their electricity provider for the payment.
Hope this explains Gerry1.

No problem Deleted User. Sounds like you've dual fuel under a single account number. In these cases, Warm Home Discount payments are made to the single account number.
As above, it doesn't matter if properties are heated by electricity or gas. The customer does need to be supplied by us for electricity. Gas only customers need to apply to their electricity provider.
Hope this explains Deleted User.

No worries PennineAcute. As above, it doesn't matter your gas isn't with us. As long as your electricity is, if eligible, the Warm Home Discount will be paid to this account.

Hi Malc/E.ON
MSE has recommended E.ON for an immediate joint gas/electricity switch but I am unclear on this: my Down’s Syndrome brother lives in the property by himself but I own the property and will be paying the bills on his behalf as his guardian. He is eligible for the Warm Home discount but in order to get this his name must be on the bill. However, he has no credit record and may be turned down, even though I am credit worthy and will be the person responsible financially. We had an E.ON account a couple of years ago but it was in my name and sure enough, my brother was unable to receive the WHD because he was not named on the bill. Any advice on how to proceed successfully appreciated. Many thanks.0 -

Hello sturton and many thanks for your interest in joining us.
I don't know the answer to this so have asked the management team looking after Warm Home Discount payments. I'll let you know what they say as soon as they come back to me.
Thanks sturton.

Hello sturton and our Warm Home Discount management team have come back to me.
It's not good news, I'm afraid. Your brother would need to be the named account holder to qualify for the scheme.
Sorry I'm not able to give you more positive information sturton.
